What is the Association of Old Crows (AOC)

The AOC is a professional organization of individuals, corporations and Defense professionals that promotes Electronic Defense and Information Superiority.

The AOC was officially organized in 1964 to exchange data on the technical and operational aspects of EW. When the Association was organized, the founding fathers established several goals. Among these was an Awards and Scholarships program that has grown to encompass the development of technical skills needed for todays modern military combat. The name Old Crows emerged from the first large-scale use of EW during World War II. United States and Allied bombing raids over Europe were outfitted with radio and radar receivers to monitor the enemy, and transmitters to jam enemy frequencies. The receivers and transmitters were part of the U. S.'s Radio Countermeasure (RCM) efforts and were designed, produced and used under the equipment's common codeword "Raven". Operators who flew on the missions were called "Raven Operators." Common jargon later changed the term to "Raven" to "Crows" and, naturally enough, there evolved a group of professionals engaged in EW called the "Old Crows."

Electronic Warfare is associated with the terms "electronic combat", "command and control warfare", and "Information Warfare". The exact definitions continually evolve. JCS Pub 1 provides the latest definitions.
